1. Why do we need telecom auditing services?

Telecom bills are costly, inefficient, confusing and fraught with errors and overcharges.

It does not make sense to have a full time staff member dedicated to doing telecom audits for the following reasons:-

  • The skills needed to audit the numerous types of complex telecommunications bills (data, voice, local, long distance) is extremely difficult for one individual.
  • Our seasoned, trained auditors constantly hone their skills and find new errors, billing mistakes  and unnecessary charges by reviewing contracts from multiple service providers and utilizing our database of achievements from many different client companies. For a single person working for one company it is very difficult to have the depth or breadth of experience that our professional auditors have.
  • Generally in-house staff is paid a salary, while our auditors are paid based upon the amount of money they recover. This makes all the difference and gives our trained auditors the incentive to dig for errors and stand up to carriers who do not want to issue refunds.
  • The discovery of billing errors, mistakes and overcharges is only half the process. Realizing the refund is usually the more difficult part. The carriers are continually audit proofing their contracts. They often limit the retroactive time period for which they will provide a refund. Our experienced auditors know how to circumvent these time limitations and are able to maximize the refund amount. We use our past successes with the vendors to enable us to negotiate refunds that would be unobtainable without  prior refunds for the same issue.

PCR is dedicated solely to the function of reviewing and cost optimizing your telecom invoices.

4. How can I get refunds?

AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and other LD providers and local carriers, all make billing mistakes. These mistakes often cost you money. Amazingly, this happens more frequently than you might think. Our experience shows that there is over an 80% likelihood that your firm has paid invoices over the last year that contain overcharges.

We can typically identify those overcharges and get them back for you. Utilizing our Proprietary process, we review your historical charges and measure them against the contract(s) with your provider(s) and the ever-changing tariffs and/or published rates that govern those contracts.

If we identify a potential error, we build a solid case, negotiate with your providers and follow through until you receive a refund or credit.

5. How can I get rate refunds?

We can often get AT&T, Verizon or Sprint (as well as all the other Local and Long Distance providers) to lower your costs, even if you are in the middle of a long term contract.

One of the most valuable assets we bring to each of our clients is the knowledge of the market, and the margins available to the providers. We know the lowest rates each provider will offer. We maintain an extensive database of rates, tariffs and custom contracts for each and every major provider. We also review and file virtually every special contract that each of the big three providers is required to file with the FCC allowing us to keep up to date on the best offers available. We can, and do, use our knowledge of these low rates and any special deals negotiated for other customers to your advantage.

Sometimes rate reduction is a matter of tariff law or provider policy. Other times it is purely negotiation or persuasion (providers are often reluctant to have us inform our mutual clients that they are providing similar service to the clients competitor at 20% less).

6. How can I save money by more efficient routing?

Updating and managing routing tables is commonly viewed as a relatively routine software and/or table update. The simple fact is that there are almost always errors in the assumptions underlying the routing rules. The larger and more complicated the network, the more room for error and oversight resulting in lost money.

PCR thoroughly analyzes your network and rate structures to determine the most efficient routing available. We make recommendations and provide full project management services including senior engineering support to assist in the implementation of all reprogramming and routing functions. We verify all new routing changes against the invoices for you to insure accuracy and immediate cost savings.

COMMENTARY

"The advent of de-regulation, the Telecom Act of 1996, and de-tariffing in 2001 have created greater competition in the telecommunication market driving down rates and expanding services. However, this result also means there is much confusion and mis-information in the industry.

Unfortunately, most organizations do not have the knowledge, infrastructure, tools and resources to assist them in deciphering through the complexity in understanding telecommunications procurement and billing management."
